In 2011, 57 seedlings of Gubec's lime tree were planted in cooperation with the Croatian Forestry Institute in Jastrebarsko, whose scientists have vegetatively grown the seedlings, and thus the first Living Archive of this sort in Croatia was established. There is a record of all seedlings by numbers and every planted seedling has a certificate from the Croatian Forestry Institute acknowledging its origin from the Gubec's lime tree.

The Living Archive of Gubec's Lime Tree Hižakovec is a project of the Tourist Association of the Town of Donja Stubica, property of the Town of Donja Stubica, which recognised the value of this project under the professional supervision of the Croatian Forestry Institute in Jastrebarsko.

The Living Archive of Gubec's Lime Tree in Hižakovec will serve for scientific (growing) and tourism purposes. The Croatian Forestry Institute will use its young trees to train seedlings for future tree-lined avenues, as well as individual trees of Gubec's lime throughout Hrvatsko zagorje and beyond.
